คือมันไม่เกี่ยวหรอกครับ พอดี Valentine ฝรั่งที่เคยเล่นกลองให้เรา เขาพูดไม่ชัด เพลงแรกที่ชื่อ ซะเมื่อไรเร่า ก็เลยกลายเป็น ซามูไรลาว ก็เอาเลยครับ จริงๆ แล้วมันไม่ได้มีความหมายอะไรเลย Its nothing like that. Our friend, Valentine, a Fa-rang who was our drummer, couldnt pronounce our first songs title very clearly. So Sa-meur-rai-rao became Samurai Loud, simply as that.

Actually our songs are pretty serious, but our show might seem a bit wacky. Our costumes are odd and funny. So is our show. But the songs are not anything like comedy.

-เดี๋ยวนี้เพลงร็อคถ้าอยากดังต้องทำให้คนดิ้นได้ แล้วอัลบั้มนี้ก็ตั้งใจมาระเบิดแดนซ์ฟลอร์แบบเปิดเผย (เนื้อเพลงอย่าง Move around like your shoes don't fit!" เนี่ยชัดพอไหม) If you wanna be a hot rocker these days, your music must move people! ในคอนเสิร์ตสนามหลวง Connect ณ เวทีราชดำเนินที่ผ่านมา มีวงดนตรีหน้าใหม่ที่ออกมาร้องเพลงเสียดายของพี่เบิร์ดในแบบ A Cappella แถมยังบวกท่วงทำนองฮิปฮอปเข้าไปได้อย่างสุดเนียน เรียกเสียงฮือฮาได้กึกก้องอยู่ชั่วขณะนึงเลยเชียวล่ะ พร้อม กับสร้างความฉงนใจเป็นหนักหนาว่าพวกเค้านั้นเป็นใครกันหนอ แล้วถ้าบอกว่าพวกเค้า เนี่ยะแหละที่เคยได้ Feat.กับนิโคลในเพลงเปรี้ยวใจล่ะ พอจะร้องอ๋อกันได้มั้ย งั้นไปทำความรู้จักกับพวกเค้ากันเล้ยยย

5 U รวมตัวกันได้ไง How did 5U get together?
เรียนที่เดียวกันตั้งแต่เด็กเลย ก็คือที่โรงเรียนเค้ามีวงประสานเสียงวงใหญ่อยู่แล้ว ต่างคนก็ต่างมาสมัครครับ เรื่องมีอยู่ว่ามีพี่คนนึง (แม็ป A Cappella 7) ที่อยู่วงนี้ด้วยเค้าเอาแผ่น CD มาให้ ชื่อ King Single ว่าด้วยการร้องเพลงแบบไม่ใช้ดนตรี ทำให้เราหลงใหลการร้องประสานเสียงแบบไม่มีดนตรี ที่เราเรียกว่า A Cappella We knew each other when we were in the big chorus band in our school. One day, Map (A Cappella 7) brought a CD called King Single which is about A Cappella or singing without music. We were hooked since then.

พอเข้ามหาลัยต่างคนก็แยกย้าย What happened when you guys left high school?
โหพอเข้ามหาลัยปั๊ปก็กระจายเลยครับ 5 คน 5 มหาลัย ชื่อวงเราก็มาจากตรงเนี๊ยะ 5 University พี่ดี้ นิติพงษ์ เค้าตั้งให้ We separated and got into 5 different universities. Thats why PDee Nitipong named our band 5U.

แล้วหลังจากนั้น What happened after that?
หลังจากนั้นมาเป็น Back up ให้นิโคล ในอัลบั้ม 2 เพลง เปรี้ยวใจ ครับ ตอนที่ออดิชั่นกับพี่ดี้นิโคลเค้ายืนอยู่พอดี เค้าก็เลยขอพี่ดี้ว่าอยากให้ Feat.กันหน่อย ของเราเป็นเพลงสุดท้ายในอัลบั้ม คือเค้าเตรียมจะออกแล้วไง งั้นเอาแทรกไปหน่อย ก็เลยทำอย่างรวดเร็วมาก หลังจากนั้นก็เรื่อยเปื่อยครับ จะเป็นงาน Event ส่วนใหญ่ เพื่อนอีกคนก็ไปเรียนเมืองนอกขาดหายไปประมาณ 2-3 ปี แต่ตอนนี้เรากลับมาแล้ว กลับมาก็เพราะว่ามีงานใหญ่ งาน Feat. กับมาช่า หลังจากตรงนั้นก็เลย เอ้อ..ลองอีกสักตั้งดู ก่อนจะแก่เกินไป แล้วสนามหลวง Connect ก็ติดต่อเข้ามา After that we became Back up for Nicoles Preaw Jai in her second album. When we were auditioning with PDee, Nicole happened to be there and she told PDee that she wanted us. Preaw Jai is the last song in that album. It was about to release, and everything was done in just a flash. After that we did nothing much. Mostly Events. One of us went aboard for a few years, but now we are back because there was a big gig, doing Feat. for Masha. We wanted to give it another shot before we get too old, and Sanamluang Connect contacted us.

วง 5U เนี่ย ถ้าขาดไปคนใดคนนึงจะเป็นยังไง What would 5U be like if one of you guys is missing?
ถ้าขาดมือกีต้าร์คุณก็ยังหาใครมาเล่นก็ได้ให้ลงตัวในวง เครื่องดนตรีมันปรับจูนกันได้ แต่การร้องเพลงนี่มันไม่เหมือนกัน คือเราฝึกกันมา ต่อให้คนที่ร้องเก่ง 5 คนก็ไม่ได้หมายความว่าจะออกมาเหมือนกัน อย่างพวกผมนี่ไม่ได้ร้องเก่งอะไร แต่ด้วยความที่เราเป็นเพื่อนกันมา ฝึกร้องกันใต้บันไดตั้งแต่เด็ก กว่าจะออกมาเป็นก้อนเดียวกันผมว่ายาก หลายครั้งก็เคยลองดึงคนอื่นเข้ามาแจม เรามีคนเข้าออกวงเยอะนะ สุดท้ายก็กลับมาในตำแหน่งเดิมหมดนะ 5 คน คือบางอย่างมันอยู่ที่เซ้นท์ไม่ใช่แค่ซ้อม If your guitarist is not available, it is easy to find another. You can tune instruments, but not with singing. We have been practicing. Actually we are not so good or anything but we have been singing together since we were kids. It takes time to get this harmony. Sometimes we invited new members in, but at the end everything is back to the same place. It needs not only practicing, but good sense as well.

ร้องด้วยกันมากี่ปีแล้ว How long have you been singing together?
10 ปี คือร้องด้วยกันจริงๆ เป็นช่วงมัธยม ช่วงมหาลัยมีเล็กน้อย หลังจากนั้นก็แยกย้ายกันไปนานอยู่เหมือนกัน10 years. Mostly in high school. Slightly in Universities. And we went on our own way for quite a while.

ได้ข่าวว่าเตรียมทำอัลบั้มกันอยู่เป็นเพลงใหม่ทั้งหมดเลย ? In the album you are making, are they all new songs?
เป็นเพลงใหม่หมดครับ วางไว้ว่าตุลาปีนี้จะออกมาเป็น มินิอัลบั้ม Thats correct. We will release a Mini album this October.

คือทำกันเองยังไม่มีค่าย No record label?
ตอนนี้ยังครับ เป็น Master 5 เพลง ถ้าเวิร์คก็จะเอาไปเสนอค่ายครับ Not yet. Now we have 5 masters. If they work, we will talk to the record label.

เคยคิดจะร้องแบบอื่นที่ไม่ใช่ A Cappella บ้างมั้ย Ever thought of singing in different style or something not so A Cappella?
คือในงานดนตรีของเราก็ไม่ได้เป็น A Cappella ทั้งหมดซะทีเดียว บางทีอาจจะเป็น A Cappella แค่เพลงสองเพลง เพลงอื่นๆ ก็จะมี Pop Rock ด้วยซ้ำ แต่ก็จะนำเอาการประสานเสียงเข้ามา คือแก่นของเราจะเป็น A Cappella อยู่แล้ว คือหลายๆ คนในวงก็จะหลงใหลในหลายๆ แบบ แต่เสน่ห์ที่ทุกคนในวงเห็นตรงกันคือ A Cappella เวลาร้องด้วยกัน ผมว่ามันมีเสน่ห์ครับ A Cappella เนี่ยมันเป็นอีกอารมณ์นึง ถึงแม้จะไปเที่ยวไหนพออยู่กันห้าคนมันก็อยากร้อง มันเป็นเครื่องดนตรีที่เราพกพาไปด้วยได้โดยไม่ต้องเสียบแอมป์ มาพร้อมกันมันร้องได้แล้ว มันมีเสน่ห์ คือเวลาที่ผมได้ฟังใครก็ตามร้องเพลง A Cappella ผมรู้สึกอิ่ม แน่น ไม่ใช่ว่าเค้าร้องดี เสียงแน่นอะไรนะ แต่มันแบบ แม่งเจ๋งว่ะ Our songs are not all A Cappella. There are only a few, and we even have Pop Rock, but of course our core is A Cappella. We all like different things, but the same thing we have in common is our love for A Cappella. I think its fascinating. Its like an instrument we can take to anywhere without amp. We just have to be together. And whenever I hear anyone singing A Cappella, I feel contented. Not because they sing well or anything, but its just so groovy.

แล้วถ้าเกิดมีวัยรุ่นเค้าอยากจะเริ่มลองฝึกฝนร้องเพลงแนวนี้ มีอะไรแนะนำพวกเค้าบ้าง Any advice for kids who wanna try singing A Cappella?
เราต้องหาคนที่เสียงต่ำสุดและสูงมาก แล้วคนร้องตรงกลางอีก มันเป็นรอยต่อที่ค่อนข้างยากเหมือนกัน มันเหมือนกับการดีดกีตาร์ จริงๆ พวกผมเหมือนสายกีต้าร์คนละสาย ถ้าเกิดเริ่มแรกๆ อาจมีเพื่อนที่ร้องกันสองสามคนร้องตามกีต้าร์ หรือไม่ก็ลองไปหาอาจารย์ที่สอนคอรัส ซึ่งตอนนี้ก็มีแพร่หลายกันบ้างแล้ว เชียงใหม่ก็เยอะครับ คนเก่งๆ จากกรุงเทพไปอยู่กันเยอะ You have to find the ones with Tenor and Bass voice, and the voices in between. It is quite difficult to fill in the gap. Its like guitar. We are like each string of the same guitar. If you are a new beginner, group together with your friends and sing along guitar, or find a chorus teacher which is now quite easy to find. There are a lot of good folks in Chiang Mai too.

เร็วๆ นี้จะมีแสดงที่ไหนบ้างไหม Any show soon?
ก็จะมีวันที่ 7 กรกฎาครับ เป็นงานแฟชั่นโชว์ของ Cheeze Studio จะมีเหมือนมินิ ปาร์ตี้ มีก้านคอคลับกับวงผมร้อง We will have a show on 7th of July. Its a Fashion show from Cheeze Studio, and there will be a Mini Party. Karn-Kor-Club and U5 will be there.

เข้ากันมาก What a combination!
จริงๆ ถ้าลองฟังวงผมเนี่ยะ เราไม่ได้ฮูฮากันอย่างเดียว มีบีทบ็อกด้วยนะฮะ เพราะเราดูแล้วไม่รอดแน่ถ้ามีฮูฮากันอย่างเดียวเดี๋ยวจะหลับกันหมด Listen to our songs, and youll know that we are not just about Hoo and Ha. We do Beat Box too, you know? We dont want you to fall asleep.
