ทุกวันนี้อุตสาหกรรมการ์ตูนไทยกำลังดีวันดีคืน ใครจะไปรู้อยู่ๆ เด็กอายุแค่ 19 ปี ในนามปากกา The Duang ก็มีงานเขียนรวมเล่มออกมาแล้วถึง 4 เล่มด้วยกัน งานแต่ละชิ้นของเขาล้วนเริ่มต้นด้วยความขบขัน และจบลงด้วยความแสบสันต์ หักมุมสะท้อนตัวตนและสังคมได้อย่างคมคาย
เริ่มรู้ตัวตั้งแต่เมื่อไหร่ว่าเราอยากจะเป็นนักเขียนการ์ตูน Since when have you realized that you wanna be a cartoonist?
ประมาณ ม.2 เพราะวาดเล่นๆมาตั้งแต่เด็ก แต่อยากจะให้มันมีเรื่องราวก็เลยลองดู แล้วก็รู้ตอนนั้นแหละว่าเราก็ทำได้นี่หว่า แล้วก็เริ่มจริงจังกับมัน When I was in the 8th grade, cuz Id always doodled since I was a small kid. Then I wanted to make it a story, and I knew just then that I could do it, and started getting serious.
มีงานชิ้นไหนของใครบ้างที่เป็นแรงบันดาลใจ What/Who is your inspiration?
การ์ตูนเรื่องวันพีช ชอบมุมภาพมันดูแปลกดีอ่านครั้งแรกหลงรักเลย และทิม เบอร์ตั้น ชอบที่เค้ามองโลกแปลกออกไป I fell in love with One Piece at the first time I read it, and I like Tim Burton who perceives this world in a different way.
อาชีพนักเขียนการ์ตูนเป็นอาชีพในฝันเลยหรือเปล่า Is cartoonist your dream career?
ตอนนี้ใช่เลย ตอนเด็กๆ อยากเป็นนักจิตวิทยามันดูเท่ดี แต่มันดูยากเกินไป แต่นักเขียนการ์ตูนก็เท่นะ It is exactly at this moment. When I was a kid, I wanted to be a psychologist. I thought it was cool, but being a cartoonist is cool as well.
ความยากง่ายของอาชีพนี้ What is the most difficult part in this profession?
ยากตรงที่ไม่รู้จะสร้างความประทับใจกับคนอ่านยังไง ตอนเริ่มจะเกร็งมาก เขียนไม่ค่อยออก แต่พอเขียนไปได้เรื่อยๆ มันก็จะมายากตรงการคิดเรื่อง Its difficult when you dont know how to impress the readers. It is awkward at first, but after that its all about the plot.
จัดระเบียบวางแผนขั้นตอนการทำงานยังไง How do you plan the process?
มักจะเกิดจากพล็อตที่เป็นเรื่องสั้นก่อนจะเขียนจริง บางทีก็จะเป็นกลอน ก็หาแรงบันดาลใจจากเรื่องทั่วๆ ไป คิดตอนต้น - ตอนจบ แล้วค่อยมาสร้างปัญหาให้มัน พอได้ก็มาเขียนเป็นตัวหนังสือ แล้วทำสตอรี่บอร์ด เราจะรู้เรื่องคนเดียวแล้วค่อยเขียนลงแผ่นจริง I start from plotting a short story. Some inspiration may come from a poem or general stuffs. I think of the beginning and the ending, create the complex, then I write it down, make a storyboard, and start working on the real works.
การ์ตูนเรื่องแรกในชีวิต Tell us about the first cartoon you wrote.
เรื่องเกี่ยวกับเด็กที่กลัวความมืดใต้เตียง เขียนให้ตลาดตลกสั้นๆ มาจากตัวเองตอนผ่าไส้ติ่ง ตอนนี้เอามารีเมคใหม่รวมอยู่ใน Shockolate Its about a boy who is afraid of the darkness under his bed. It is brief and funny, based on my own experience when I had an operation. Now its remade into one of the stories in Shockolate.
ไม่เขียนการ์ตูนยาวแบบหลายเล่มจบบ้างเหรอ Why dont you try writing a long, ongoing story?
คิดอยู่ แต่มันคงเป็นอีกขั้นหนึ่งซึ่งยากขึ้นไปอีก แต่ตอนนี้ก็เริ่มเขียนยาวๆ แล้วเป็นเล่มเดียวจบออกมา 2 เล่มทำกับมูลนิธิเด็ก เป็นเรื่องเกี่ยวกับการปลูกฝังจิตสำนึกของเด็กๆ ชื่อเรื่อง The Lesson Of A Doll Boy ที่จะสอนให้เด็กๆ รู้จักรักของเล่น และ Clart Room ที่สอนให้รักอุปกรณ์เครื่องเขียน Im thinking about it, but that would be another level with more difficulty. Now I have finished 2 long stories that I collaborated with Children Foundation. They are The Lesson of a Doll Boy and Clartroom which have one-book length.
งานของเรามีความโดดเด่นยังไง What is the most outstanding trait in your works?
ผมพยายามเขียนให้มันเป็นสากล เขียนหลายๆ แบบ ให้คนอ่านรู้ว่าเราทำอะไรได้บ้าง รวมจุดเด่นของการ์ตูนหลายๆ อย่างเข้าด้วยกัน มีกลิ่นอายของญี่ปุ่น สไตล์ของฝรั่งผสมกัน แล้วใส่วิถีชีวิต เรื่องราวความเป็นไทยลงไป I try to make it as international as I could, and vary my style so the readers know the scope I can do. I combine good elements from different comics, Japanese and the west style, mixing with Thai lifestyle.
เหมือนงานรวมเล่ม I am ใช่มั้ย Just like your i-am, isnt it?
ใช่มันหลากหลายมาก มันคือ สิ่งที่ผมอยากจะนำเสนอในหลายมุมมองที่ผมเคยผ่านหูผ่านตามา ในรูปแบบหลายๆ อย่าง ให้คนอ่านได้เห็นหลายๆ อารมณ์ หลายๆ ความรู้สึก Yes, it is a variety. I wanted to present what I have seen in those different approaches so the readers can feel the varied emotion and feelings.
มีของเล่นชิ้นโปรดมั้ย Do you have a favorite piece of toy?
ผมไม่ค่อยมี เด็กๆ ค่อนข้างขมขื่นเพราะต้องเก็บตังค์ซื้อเอง วันนึงก็ได้ไม่กี่บาททำให้เป็นของรักเกือบทุกชิ้น แทบจะไม่มีชิ้นไหนพัง หวงสุดๆ จะเป็นกันดั้มเพราะใช้เวลาต่อนานมาก I didnt have much toy. My childhood was a bit difficult cuz I had to save my own money to buy a new toy. So I took great care of every single piece. Gundum is my favorite because it took such a long time to put the model together.
เบื่อๆ คิดงานไม่ออกทำยังไง What do you do when you cant think of anything?
ไม่รู้ทำอะไรก็เล่นเกม เดินเล่น เดินดูหนังสือ หาแรงบันดาลใจ บางทีเรื่องเล็กๆ ในหนังสือก็เป็นแรงบันดาลใจให้เราได้เหมือนกัน I play games, go for a walk, or read a book, searching for inspiration. Some simple sentences in any book can inspire you sometimes.
อยากให้ใครอ่านการ์ตูนของคุณที่สุด Who is the person you most want to read your cartoon?
อยากให้คนเขียนวันพีช กับทิม เบอร์ตั้น อ่าน อยากให้เค้าวิจารณ์งานผม Eiichiro Oda who writes One Piece and Tim Burton. I want some comment from them.
ในอนาคตอยากจะทำงานแบบไหน หรือร่วมงานกับใคร In the future, what kind of project would you like to pursue, and who do you want to work with?
อยากลองเขียนเรื่องแม่ อยากเขียนรวมเล่มกับนักเขียนคนไทยที่ผมชอบ อยากทำกับ บ..เล่นอะไร อยากรู้ว่าเค้าทำกันยังไง อยากทำงานอนิเมชั่นสั้นๆ ตัวการ์ตูนของผมคงจะเท่มากถ้ามันขยับได้ หรือเป็นแค่คั่นข่าวก็ได้
แต่ตอนนี้เรียนหนักมาก I want to write a story about my mom, collaborate with the Thai writers that I like, work with Len-arai I wanna learn how they work, make a short animation my characters would look so cool when they move! It can be just a short one or anything! But now Im studying really hard.
ไม่ชอบการ์ตูนแบบไหน What kind of cartoon that you dont like?
ไม่ชอบเรื่องที่จบใสๆ คนเราเจออะไรโหดร้ายมามาก บางคนเจอะเรื่องเลวร้ายมาทั้งชีวิตแล้วจบสวยๆ ผมว่ามันไร้สาระ Those with Happy Ending! We all witness so much cruelty in life. Some of us face only misery through their whole life. Happy ending is therefore nothing but a silly fantasy.
