คุณเริ่มต้นยังไง และทำไมเลือกใช้สเตนซิล How did you start doing graffiti. And why stencils?
หลังผมตกวิชาศิลปะ ผมก็เขียนภาพลงกำแพงและทำกราฟฟิตี้แถวเมืองบริสทอล แต่ก็มาได้บทสรุปว่ามันเป็นอะไรที่เรื่องมากสุดๆ และเอาเข้าจริง ผมก็พ่นฟรีแฮนด์ได้ช้ามากๆ จนกระทั่งถูกจับ ผมเลยหันมาตัดสเตนซิลแทน ผมเลือกเทคนิคนี้เพราะคำนึงถึงความคล่องตัวและไม่อยากถูกจับแค่นั้นเอง After I failed 'O' level art, I used to do a lot of murals and graffiti in and around Bristol. But I came to the conclusion it was a very stylised thing. A mural was a mural. A tag was a tag. More practically, I was really slow when I worked freehand. One night I ended up getting caught by the police in a rail yard. I was still finishing off a piece when the cars showed up. So I started cutting stencils. I chose stencils through a mixture of practicality and not wanting to get arrested.

When you see politics for what it is, and the lives of the people involved in it, really its a joke. You have to laugh.

It's good to mess with signage because people generally do as they're told. A few years back, we created a stencil that read, 'Licensed graffiti area.' We made it look more official by adding the crown logo lifted from a packet of Benson and Hedges cigarettes. I put that up on a large white wall on the side of the Marylebone Magistrates Court. Within ten days, the wall was completely filled up with graffiti.

Sometimes the artist has more power than we care to remember.

Leave the house - now! Its better to have your regrets on a blue plastic mattress in a police cell than in your bedsit.
